22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:45am-12:45pm. Upon arrival there were 145 children in care with 13 staff present. A sample of 2 staff and 10 children's records were reviewed. Children were observed on the playground, playing with toys, and engaging in activities with staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a record review and interview with the director the center did not ensure all required information was kept for each staff person. Staff #2's file indicated her job title was a teacher assistant. The director confirmed her job title is a program leader. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the Director: During the inspection the Director documented staff #1's current title and added the date she was promoted from a teacher assistant to a program leader.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a record review the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: The center did not implement a fire drill in the month of March. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the Director: The center had a short month in March due to spring break. Two fire drills will be implemented between now and the end of May.
