Technical assistance was provided in the following areas of the standards: 22VAC40-191 (Background checks); 22VAC40-185-(3)-210 (Program Leader qualifications); 22VAC40-185-(8)-560 (Nutrition)

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 4/27/18 from 9:30am - 11:45pm. During the inspection there were 21 children ages two years old through five years old in care with the six staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classrooms, playing outside, and eating lunch. Records were reviewed for five children and five staff. There was no medication at the facility. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Baaed on observation and interviews, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. There was a container of Lysol wipes and two bottles of hand sanitizer on the filing cabinet by the teacher's desk in classroom #250. 2. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on the table outside the bathrooms in classroom #250. 3. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on the table outside the bathrooms in classroom #231. 4. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on the table outside the bathrooms in the rotunda.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded: All hazardous substances were removed from the classroom during the inspection. Going forward all hazardous substances will be stored in a locked location.
