An unannounced Subsidy Health & Safety inspection was conducted today, April 30, 2018 to determine the center's compliance with subsidy requirements. The inspection was initiated at 3:15pm and concluded at approximately 5:30pm. All subsidy requirements were reviewed and compliance determined. Administrative records, all areas in the center used by children, and outdoor play areas were inspected. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the licensing inspector at (804) 662-9771.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-006-B-11 Description: Based on the inspection of children records, the required plan was not obtained and available to review. Evidence: During the inspection of seven children records, it was discovered that child #2 with a diagnosed food allergy did not have an allergy plan in the record. Subsidy health and safety requirements stipulate a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic to and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Plan of Correction: Per director: I will inform the parent an allergy plan is needed from the child's doctor.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-C Description: Based on the inspection of staff records, the required Virginia Preservice Training documentation was not available to review. Evidence: During the inspection of two staff records, it was discovered that staff #1 hired before the subsidy agreement did not have documentation that the Virginia Preservice Training has been completed. Subsidy health and safety requirements stipulate that staff employed prior to the effective date of the new vendor agreement shall complete Virginia Pre-Service Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of the effective date (by April 1, 2017). Plan of Correction: Per director: The staff has been having issues logging in to her account. I will have her to complete the training after getting her account active.
