Assistance was given today on the trainings available on the DSS website.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection took place between the hours of 9:45am and 1:15pm today. At the start of this inspection there were a total of 82 children with 14 staff. A total of 5 children?s files, 5 staff files, all medication, and emergency preparedness procedures were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: painting, making a mother's day gift, doing puzzles, outside play and having lunch, which consisted of beany bagel melt, mixed vegetables, and oranges. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B
Description: Based on observation, diapering surface is not cleaned and sanitized after each use. Evidence: In the 2's room, after each diaper change, the changing table pad was not cleaned, only sanitized.

Plan of Correction: I will review diaper changing procedures with the staff at our next meeting and I printed off the procedures for them to begin following immediately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E
Description: Based on observation of emergency supplies, the provider did not have all of the required items. Evidence: No battery operated radio was available.

Plan of Correction: I will get new batteries today for the radio.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based on review of five staff records, the center did not have an original Central Registry report within 30 days of employment for a staff member. Evidence: Staff #1 & #2 (DOH 3/29/18 & 3/26/18 respectively) do not have a current Central Registry report within 30 days of employment.

Plan of Correction: I sent the report on 4/23/18. I will follow up if I don't get them back by 5/23/18.
