Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on 1/15/2021 and concluded on 1/21/2021. The director or in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 18 participants and 43 staff. The inspector emailed the director/person in charge a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 participant?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the director/person in charge COVID-10 guidance posted on the ADCC webpage.
Based on record review and discussion the facility failed to obtain a tuberculosis (TB) screening report by a qualified licensed practitioner no earlier than 30 days before or no later than seven days after employment or contact with participants. Evidence: 1. Staff #2?s date of hire is 12/7/2020; however the facility did not obtain a TB screening report.
2. Staff #1 acknowledged that the facility could not provide a TB screening report for Staff #2.
Plan of Correction:
1) Sentara Occupational Health discontinued annual employee health screenings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2) The Sentara PACE Program will implement all managers having employees complete the TB Questionnaire screening form.
3) The screening forms will be reviewed and signed by a PACE Quality RN or designee.
4) Any positive results will be managed by Sentara Occupational Health staff.
