Comments:
A mandated monitoring inspection was conducted on May 14, 2024 from 9:10am-10:30am. There were 5 children in care with 2 caregivers supervising (14 points). The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-430-A
Description: Based on observation, the stairs in the family day home were not made inaccessible to children under two years of age.

Evidence: The door to the stairs in the rear of the main room where children were playing, was left open.

Plan of Correction: Door to stairs will be kept closed at all times.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-A
Description: Based on observation the caregiver did not wash their hands with soap and warm running water.

Evidence: Caregiver #2 wiped a child's runny nose and did not wash their hands afterwards.

Plan of Correction: Caregiver retrained staff on hand-washing to include washing after wiping bodily fluids from a child.
