Effective September 8, 2020, Accomack DSS is open to the public by appointment only during normal business hours (8:30 – 5:00). Accomack DSS will continue to respond to emergency cases that cannot be handled by alternative methods and require face-to-face contact. Any substantial updates will be done by radio (WESR) and the County website: https://www.co.accomack.va.us. Any individual needing Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, or Child Care Subsidy should apply at CommonHelp (www.virginia.commonhelp.org). If the individual does not have internet access they may apply by calling 1-855-635-4370 or (Medicaid only) 1-855-242-8282. Paper applications and requested documents may be dropped off in our blue drop box, in front of the agency. Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services continues to be open. Bath Co DSS will be closed for walk-ins and continue with appointments only. For inquiries pertaining to Benefit Programs, please call 540-839-7271. If you have a scheduled appointment, please call prior to coming to the agency since most interviews will be conducted via phone. GDSS remains available to assist county citizens. While offices will reopen to the public on July 6, 2020, we ask that citizens call to schedule an appointment at (804) 693-2671 from 8:00- 4:30pm. In our efforts to ensure the safety of our community, the agency will manage most matters by phone. If a face- to-face meeting is required, an appointment will be scheduled. Those coming to the agency without an appointment are asked to call the above number before entering the building, and instructions will be provided to you based on social distancing requirements. The Department of Social Services will be inaccessible to the public except by appointment with a caseworker, customer service or to issue emergency EBT replacement cards. The department remains operational with reduced staff present in the office and with staff working remotely. To schedule an appointment, please call your caseworker or the office at 804-501-4001. King William Social Services is open to the public by appointment only by calling 769-4905. Most staff are teleworking but available Monday-Friday between 8:30-4:30. Only the office located in Leesburg (Shenandoah Building) will open beginning Monday, July 20. Lobby hours are limited to morning only (8:30 to 12:00). Only 4 individuals will be allowed in the lobby at the time; others will be asked to wait outside or in their cars until called. Please note that the lobby in the Eastern office in Sterling remains closed, but expected to reopen sometime in August. Prince William DSS is fully operational via teleworking and limited front desk staff. Sudley North (Ashton Ave) is open to the public starting 7/1/20 from 8am to 4pm. We do EBT 9 to 11 and 1 to 3 or by appointment. Ferlazzo (Donald Curtis Dr) remains closed to the public. EBT cards are available via social distance protocol outside of the building 9 to 11 or 1 to 3.

The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services has reopened public access to service buildings during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. SNAP EBT card pick up is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will be practicing social distancing inside our buildings and on the grounds surrounding them. Visitors are encouraged to make an appointment before arriving as space is limited inside our lobbies and waiting rooms. Staff are required to wear face coverings during all face to face interactions, and we ask that visitors do the same. Services that can be delivered remotely will continue to be provided that way and paperwork continues to be accepted through the drop box at the front door of the Human Services Building located at 3432 Virginia Beach Blvd. To report suspected Child Abuse, please call 757-385-3400 or 800-552-7096 available 24/7.
