Details

Due to the high risk of COVID-19 transmission that Amelia County and neighboring areas are experiencing, the Amelia County Department of Social Services will be open by appointment only beginning Monday, August 9, 2021 until further notice. Face-coverings are required for all staff and visitors regardless of vaccination status. Staff are available to assist you. Please call 804-561-2681 for appointments or if you have questions.

Details

The Carroll County Department of Social Services is closed to the public from March 20, 2020 through a date to be determined. To report a CPS or APS issue during working hours please call, CPS 276-730-3130 or APS 276-730-3130. For after-hours concerns please contact the hotlines: for CPS is 1-800-552-7096 and for APS is 1-888-832-3858. You may apply for benefits online at https://commonhelp.virginia.gov, by phone 1-855-635-4370, or for Medical Assistance only at 1-855-242-8282 (TDD: 1-888-221-1590), you may also use the agency drop box to submit paperwork. Should you need a replacement EBT card, you may call 1-866-281-2448. You can also reach your benefit worker at 276-730 3130.
Charles City Department of Social Services 01/01/2022 Other

Effective Friday, October 1, 2021, and until further notice, the Charles City Department of Social Services will operate by appointment only and will no longer accept walk-ins. The agency will continue to operate under normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM). It is highly encouraged that anyone needing assistance contact the agency by calling the main office number 804-652-1708 to schedule an appointment. Citizens may continue to use the drop boxes located outside the government building and inside by the agency office to leave paperwork or applications. Citizens may apply for Benefit Programs online at www.commonhelp.virginia.gov. Citizens can also apply for benefits by calling 1-855-635-4370 (Medicaid only) or 1-855-242-8282. Should citizens need a replacement EBT card, they may call 1-866-281-2448 or call the agency during regular business hours. All essential services including Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services continue to be provided.
Dickenson County Department of Social Services 11/08/2021 Closed

Due to COVID-19, The Dickenson County Department of Social Services is closed to the public from 07/30/2020 through a date to be determined. CITIZENS WILL STILL BE TO ACCESS ALL SERVICES WHICH ARE NORMALLY PROVIDED BY THIS DEPARTMENT. However, in an effort to protect the health of our employees and the residents of this county, agency operations will be altered. To report a CPS or APS issue between normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), please call CPS -276-926- 1661. To report suspected Adult Abuse or Neglect between normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), please call CPS -276-926- 1661. For any concerns after normal business hours (4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.), please contact the hotlines: for CPS is 1-800-52-7096 and for APS is 1-888-832-3858. You may apply for benefits online at HTTPS://COMMONHELP.VIRGINIA.GOV or by phone at1-855 635-4370. To apply for Medical Assistance only, please call 1-855-242-8282 (TDD: 1-888-221-1590). COMMONHELP is a web-based system which allows all Virginia citizens 24/7 access to apply for: SNAP; TANF; MEDICAL ASSISTANCE; ENERGY ASSISTANCE (FUEL, COOLING, AND CRISIS); CHILD CARE SERVICES. Applications will be available in our lobby at 120 Clover Street (near the Rite Aid) through 3/31/2020. Beginning 4/1/2020, our offices will be open at our new location, 1280 Browning Hollow (previously Longs Fork Elementary School). You may use the agency drop box (located in the lobby both locations) to submit paperwork during normal business hours. You will be contacted by phone for further instructions so please make sure you list a working number. Should you need a replacement EBT card, you may call our office at 276-926-1661(8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m) or you may call 1-866-281-2448. EBT cards will be mailed the same day they are issued. We appreciate your patience as we all attempt to navigate through this unprecedented event.
Franklin City Department of Social Services 11/01/2021 Other

Details

Beginning September 27, 2021, Franklin City DSS will be closed to the public at 4:30 pm. Citizens may leave applications and other paperwork in the agency drop box located near the front door. Also, citizens may apply for benefits online at https://commonhelp.virginia.gov or by phone at 1-855-635-4370.
Lee County Department of Social Services 11/08/2021 Closed

Details

Due to the high risk of COVID-19 transmission that Lee County and neighboring areas are experiencing, the Lee County Department of Social Services will be closed to the public effective September 9, 2021 until further notice. Face-coverings are required for all staff and physical distancing standards remain in place. Staff remain available to assist citizens by telephone.
