About Career Opportunities & the Virginia Social Services System

The Virginia Social Services System is a state-supervised locally-administered human services system. Social services employment opportunities are available at the state (Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS)) and local levels (Local Departments of Social Services (LDSS)).

We are an employer of choice with approximately 1,700 positions within the VDSS and over 8,300 employees who currently work with LDSS.

We are looking for individuals that want to help people triumph over poverty, abuse and neglect to shape strong futures for themselves, their families and communities.

LDSS (local level) Career Opportunities - Find & Apply

Effective July 1, 2012, local offices across the State will accept only online applications. The Virginia Jobs website, the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), and our Quick Reference Guide can assist applicants in completing their online Virginia Jobs application. Job openings are generally updated once a week, on Friday morning.
