An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on June 10, 2019 from approximately 3:25 PM to 5:25 PM. The census for today's inspection consisted of 48 children. Staff and children were observed eating snack and participating in camp closing group time. Children's equipment, learning materials, outdoor and indoor space, restrooms, and the first aid and nonmedical emergency supplies were inspected. Five children's records, five staff records, annual fire and health inspections, fire drill, shelter in place and lock down drill logs, daily attendance and required postings were reviewed. The center administers medication and all required documentation was reviewed. The director was available for the inspection and was present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that cleaning and sanitizing materials shall not be located above food, food equipment, utensils or single-service articles and shall be stored in areas physically separate from food. Evidence: In classroom #1, disinfecting wipes were stored in a cabinet above Goldfish, Chex mix and plastic utensils. Plan of Correction: "Move cleaning supplies and lock cabinet."
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that sinks located by the toilets are supplied with warm water. Evidence: 1. In classroom #1, two bathrooms with sinks did not have running warm water. 2. The Director stated he did not check the bathrooms. Plan of Correction: Not available online. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that children's hands are washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals and snacks. Evidence: 1. The children went to the pavilion to eat snack without washing their hands with soap and running water or disposable wipes. 2. The children finished eating snack and began the next activity without washing their hands with soap and running water or disposable wipes 3. Staff #3 and staff #4 reported that children do not wash hands or use disposable wipes after meals. Plan of Correction: We will get baby wipes for hand washing after snacks.
