Comments:
An unannounced non-mandated monitoring inspection was completed on 01/30/2020 from 9:50 A.M.-12:30 P.M. There were 45 children in attendance with eleven staff and one administrator present. Two children records, two staff records, parent handbook, and six over-the-counter skin products were reviewed. Children were observed during small group activities that included a literacy activity, a craft activity of creating a winter sensory book, free choice activities, diapering, handwashing, infant tummy time, infant feeding, lunchtime, and behavioral guidance. The exceptions to compliance are noted on the violation notice.

Description: Based on a review of over-the-counter skin products, the center failed to ensure that over-the-counter skin products shall not be kept beyond the expiration date.

Evidence:
1. There was a bottle of Aquaphor Healing Ointment that expired in 03/2018.
2. Staff verified that the expiration date of the Aquaphor Healing Ointment.

Plan of Correction: Administration called the parents to notify them about the product being expired and will discard of it today. Administration will talk with the staff responsible for checking over-the-skin products expiration dates, and review the licensing standards related to over-the-counter skin products.
