This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on November 2, 2020 and concluded on November 4, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were nine children present and six staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children's records and five staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on review of staff records, the center failed to obtain fingerprinting for new staff prior to the date of hire.
Evidence:
1. Staff #3's file did not contain documentation of a fingerprint check being completed. Date of re-hire into the licensed portion of the program was 03/05/2020.
2. Staff # 3 was observed working in a classroom on 11/04/2020.
3. Staff verified that there was not a completed fingerprint check on file for Staff #3.Plan of Correction: Administration requested Staff #3 to make an appointment to obtain fingerprints immediately. Staff #3 has previously been employed with the licensed portion of the programs and had a completed state police criminal history check on file. She moved to the unlicensed portion of the program in 2018 before fingerprints were required. Administration will provide evidence within 10 business days to the Licensing Inspector that the appointment has been made or the fingerprints have been completed.
