Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on the menu - the requirement to list specific foods is so that parents can be informed ahead of time what is to be served, and so that there is a record of what was served. General categories of "meat", "fruit" and "vegetables" do not satisfy this requirement.

Discussed the confusion with having parents identify individual foods that the child can/cannot have, determined on a daily basis, difficult to manage and has the possibility to lead to confusion and/or mistakes.

Discussed defining "direct egg allergy" and getting more specific information with what exactly can and cannot be eaten.

Shared concerns of having five separate documents for a food allergy because some may have conflicting information. Recommend keeping the most current documents only.

Comments:
An unannounced inspection was conducted to investigate a complaint received by the department related to Supervision, Procedures for Emergencies and Nutrition and Food Services. The inspection was initiated on 11/13/2023 with additional interviews conducted on 11/27/23 and additional documentation was reviewed on 1/24/24. Evidence gathered during the inspection from interviews, and documentation review did not support the allegations and the complaint is determined to be not valid. There was, however, one violation documented on the violation notice issued to the program. An exit interview was conducted on 2/6/2024. Description: Based on documentation review and interviews, it was determined that the menu listing foods to be served for snacks did not contain all requirements. Evidence: The snack menu lists "week 1" and "week 2," not specific dates. The lunch menu does not specifically state what fruit is served - it states "fresh or chilled fruit."

Plan of Correction: Dates are present on all menus posted and specific fruit is listed.
