This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 01/14/2021 and concluded on 01/25/2021. The director was contacted by phone to initiate the inspection. There were 128 children present and 30 (not including administrative staff) staff present. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with the applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center did not complete the interstate sex offender registry and the interstate criminal background check for a new employee.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed 5 staff records. One of five records (#1) did not have all the required background checks.Plan of Correction: The interstate sex offender registry form was mailed on 1/22/2021. We are awaiting results.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D Description: Based on documentation review and interview, the center did not conduct all required drills.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed drill records and the month of July and August were not completed which was verified by staff.Plan of Correction: The director will mark their calendar for a fire drill each month and ensure they
are completed.
