Comments:
AN unannounced, mandated monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 3:30 PM and departed at 4:30 PM. Twenty-one children were in care with two staff. After school outdoor play, homework in the computer lab and activities in the cafeteria were observed. Medication administration and injury records were reviewed. A sample size of five children's records were reviewed. An exit meeting was conducted with the program director prior to closure of the inspection.

Description: Based upon observation and staff interview, the facility has not followed their written medication regarding methods to prevent use of outdated medication. Evidence: 1. The facility has an Auvi-Q stored for emergency use for child 4 who has a life threatening allergy. The expiration date on the Auvi-Q was 01/11/2019. 2. Staff 1 verified that the Auvi-Q had expired on 01/11/2019.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: The parent was notified that a new Auvi-Q would be needed. Procedures to keep track of medication and authorization dates will be reviewed and followed in order to give parents advance notice when medication is expiring.
