Technical assistance was provided in the following area of the standards: 22VAC40-185-280 (Hazardous substances and other harmful agents).
- Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2019 to determine the program's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 9:30 am and concluded the inspection at 12:00 pm. The census for today's inspection consisted of 76 children in the direct care of 14 staff. The center's director assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. Upon the inspector's arrival, the children were engaged in various activities. The children were observed during transitions, during free-play, and teacher-led activities. The center is equipped with age appropriate materials and equipment for the children?s use. Staff were engaged with the children and offering guidance when needed. The areas where children receive care were inspected and found to be in compliance. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu and various parent information. The center's first aid kit and non-emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. Health Inspection: 08/08/2018 Fire Inspection: 10/11/2018 The last documented evacuation drill was held on 04/11/2019. The last shelter-in-place drill was documented on 02/04/2019. One more shelter-in-place drill will have to be conducted before the end of the school year. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observations at the center on 05/16/2019, the center did not ensure to keep all hazardous substances in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1) In the Fuji room, the licensing inspector observed a bottle of disinfectant spray on a shelf in the children's bathroom. 2) In the Gala room, the licensing inspector observed the shelves in the children's bathrooms had disinfectant spray, disinfectant cleansers, and disinfectant wipes. 3) In the Art & Culture room, the licensing inspector observed cans of disinfectant spray and bleach cleaners in an unlocked cabinet by the children's bathroom. 4) In the Honeycrisps room, the licensing inspector observed a bottle of disinfectant spray and disinfectant wipes in an unlocked cabinet in the children's bathroom. Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: Corrected on site.
