The definition of school aged children - "School age means children eligible to attend public school, age five or older by September 30 of that same year. Four- or five-year-old children included children included in a group of school age children may be considered school age during the summer months if the children will be entering kindergarten that year." was discussed with staff. The ratio for preschool children (10:1) remains the same for the school year even if the preschool child has turned age five.

An unannounced, mandated monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 7:00 AM and departed at 7:50 AM. Twelve children were in care with two staff. Morning arrivals and activities were observed. A sample size of five children's records were reviewed. No children's injuries were reported. Medication administration was reviewed. An exit meeting was conducted with staff 1 prior to closing the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Description: Based upon review of the posted menu, the facility has not ensured that they follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence: The posted afternoon snack menu did not include at least two food group components for snacks. The Tuesday menu listed "apples and juice"; Wednesday listed "baby carrots and juice"; Thursday listed "apples and juice" and Friday listed "fruit cup and juice".
