The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Wednesday, June 6, 2019 from 10:51am to 2:11pm. The children were observed engaged in a variety of activities. All classrooms as well as the center's playground were inspected today. The center's three mini buses were also inspected. Ten children's records and ten employee records were reviewed during this inspection. Medication is administered and was reviewed. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last Evacuation Drill: 05/15/2019 Last Shelter in Place Drills: 09/12/2018 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Infants -11:3 Older Infants (Zebras)-8:3 Toddlers (Elephants)-14:3 Twos (Flamingos)-14:3 Twos (Lions)-15:2 Threes (Ostriches)-20:2 Threes (Chimps)-20:2 Fours (Crocs)-20:2 Pre-K I (Gazzelles)- 19:2 Pre-K II (Rhinos)-19:2 Kindergarten-10:1 School Age-not present If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact your licensing inspector, Roshon Casey, at (804) 662-9760.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A Description: Based on observation on 6/05/2019, the center did not ensure that over-the-counter skin products shall not be kept beyond the expiration date of the product. EVIDENCE: 1. Aquaphor belonging to Child #11 was observed in the toddler room. The cream expired 02/2019. 2. Aquaphor belonging to Child #12 was observed in the toddler room. The cream expired 03/2019. 3. Coppertone sunscreen belonging to Child #13 was observed in the toddler room. The lotion expired 04/2016. 4. Babyganics insect repellent belonging to Child #14 was observed in the toddler room. The cream expired 05/20129. Plan of Correction: Will discard the expired products today and request new bottles . Will do more frequent checks in classroom.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation on 06/05/2019, the center did not ensure that prepared infant formula shall be dated. EVIDENCE: Bottles belonging to Child #4 did not have the date on them. Plan of Correction: Corrected on site. Bottles dated during the inspection.
