An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 08/05/2019 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. At the time of entrance there were 23 children in care with six staff. The children ranged in age from two years - ten years. Children were observed during lunch and nap. Records reviewed for two staff and six children in care. Medication and emergency supplies reviewed. Two violations were observed in two parts of the CDC standards. The violations are listed on the violation notice and were reviewed with administrative staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that outside equipment of the center shall be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: Two areas of peeling paint were observed on the top wooden platform of the red metal outdoor climbing structure. Plan of Correction: Administrative staff stated that they have already scheduled for a maintenance person to repair the area of peeling paint.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-C Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that play equipment used by children shall have no pinch points. Evidence: The metal bar at the top of the ladder on the red metal outdoor play structure is loose. The movement of the bar creates a potential pinch point for children's fingers. Plan of Correction: The area around the loose bar will be repaired to eliminate the pinch point.
