63.2(17) License & Registration Procedures

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted during the summer camp portion of the program on August 21, 2019. Upon entry to the facility, there were four staff and two volunteers present with 53 school age children. Children were observed leaving the program, playing in the cafeteria,drawing, and having snack. Six children's records were reviewed on this date. There were no medications present or being administered in the center on this date. Licensing Inspector reviewed indoor areas, supervision, activities, equipment, nutrition, documentation, children's records, emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drill documentation, fire and health inspection reports, emergency supplies and required postings.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that when centers choose to provide meals or snacks, they shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence: The Site Supervisor confirmed and it was observed that the children were having chocolate pudding and water for PM snack. There is a requirement of two components recognized by the USDA for snacks.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure that they have two components for snack.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-580-I
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the center did not ensure that before leaving on field trips, schedules are posted. Evidence: The Site Supervisor confirmed that a schedule of today's field trip which included the trip's events and location were not posted and visible at the center site.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure that if we leave the site it will be posted.

Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that the findings of the most recent inspection of the facility were posted in the center. Evidence: The Site Supervisor confirmed that the findings of an inspection conducted on June 6, 2019 were not posted in the center. The facility had findings from an inspection conducted on March 6, 2019 posted.

Plan of Correction: The findings from today's inspection will be posted.
