Technical Assistance:
Obtaining child protective services central registry searches from any state in which a staff person has lived within the previous five years (Adam Walsh state contacts for Child Abuse Registries) was discussed with the program director.

Comments:
An unannounced, mandated monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 10:52 AM and departed at 1:45 PM. Twenty-nine children were in care. Morning activities, diaper changing procedures, the outdoor playground, lunch service and nap time were observed. A sample size of five staff/volunteer records and five children's records were reviewed. Medication administration and injury records were reviewed.

An exit meeting was conducted with the program director prior to closure of the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A
Description: Based upon review of medication stored for emergency administration to the children, the facility has not ensured that they have followed their medication policy requiring written parental authorization for medications kept at the facility.
Evidence:
There is an emergency Auvi-Q stored for child 6. The facility does not have written parental authorization for the Auvi-Q.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
We have a life threatening allergy management plan and we will have the parent complete an authorization form for the Auvi-Q.
