An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 2:00pm and concluded the inspection at approximately 3:50pm. The center's director, assistant director, and administrative staff assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. The census for today's inspection consisted of 78 children and approximately 23 staff members. Upon arrival, the inspector observed two buses leaving the premises to pick the school age children up from school. The preschool children were napping. The children were later observed in their designated classrooms eating snack, washing hands, taking bathrooms breaks, and interacting with peers and staff. The school age children were observed in the Clubhouse engaged in a variety of activities. The center is equipped with age and stage appropriate materials and equipment for the children's use. Staff were engaged with the children and offering guidance when needed. The areas where children receive care were inspected and found to be in compliance. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedules, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu, and various parent information. The center's first aid kit and non-emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. Seven children's records, seven staff records, four medications, and four agents' background checks were reviewed today. The most recent health inspection was on 03/15/2019. The most recent fire inspection was on 06/04/2019. The last documented evacuation drill was held on 08/22/2019. The last documented shelter-in-place drill was documented on 07/15/2019.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-140-B Description: Based on a review of seven children's records on 09/10/2019, the center did not ensure that if a child, two years of age through five years of age has had a physical examination prior to attendance, it shall be within 12 months prior to attendance.
Evidence: 1) The physical examination in the record for Child #3 (4-year-old), whose enrollment date was 06/17/2019, is dated 01/16/2017.Plan of Correction: Per the Center: "When enrolling children over the age of two years old we will make sure that the child's physical was completed within a year of the enrollment date."
