Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection, at which play groups, outdoor time, group time, story time, music time, and personal hygiene were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Thirty-one (31) children, aged 12 months-4 years, were found to be in care with 6 staff, kitchen staff, and administrative staff. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9 am and concluded at 10:40 am.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on review of the center the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to locking of hazards.

Evidence:
In building #2, ages 12 months-2 years, the storage closet door at the main entrance to the center was not locked and contained numerous cleaning agents and cans of paint.

Plan of Correction: Maintenance was notified and will fix the door so that when locked the latch catches and is not able to be opened without the key. Staff will be reminded to inform administration of any non-working equipment or items so they can be fixed and remain compliant.
