An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted today from 7:00am to 8:00am with the program staff. Only subsidy requirements were reviewed during this inspection. Three staff records were reviewed off site on 11/6/19 for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice Training and current certification in First Aid and CPR. Staff are aware of children's diagnosed allergies and had a posted allergy list. There are three children currently enrolled with diagnosed food allergies and their records were reviewed for allergy care plans. The last lockdown drill was documented on 11/1/19. Staff report that there have been no serious injuries this year but are aware of the reporting requirement. The attendance was reviewed and was in compliance. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11 Description: Based on documentation review, the program did not obtain a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Evidence: Child A, with a diagnosed allergy to peanuts, melons, and seafood, does not have an allergy care plan in their record. Plan of Correction: We have asked the parent to get this for us and have given them multiple copies of the form. We will continue to ask them for it.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-E-1 Description: Based on review of staff records, all staff do not have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Evidence: The last documented CPR certification for Staff A was dated 10/21/17 with an expiration date of 10/21/19. Plan of Correction: We will have the staff signed up for the next course.
