An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:30am to 12:00pm with the director. There were 65 children in care, ranging from two months to five years of age, supervised by 13 staff. The children were observed having free play in the gym, riding bikes, coloring turkeys, decorating pine cones, and playing with cars and tabletop toys. Seven children?s records and five staff records were reviewed. The Center has staff in each classroom with current certification in CPR and First Aid, and staff trained in Daily Health Observation. One medication and authorization form were reviewed and the center has three staff current in Medication Administration Training (MAT). The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed and were in compliance. The most recent Fire Inspection documentation was dated 2/25/19 and the most recent Health Inspection documentation was dated 9/9/19. Snack today was crackers and apple juice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on review of staff records, the center did not obtain documentation of the results of a follow-up tuberculosis (TB) test or screening at least every two years from the date of the initial screening or testing. Evidence: The most recent documented TB test result for Staff A was dated 10/8/17. Plan of Correction: The staff member went on 11/18/19 to get a TB test, she will go back today, 11/20/19, to get it read.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, were not kept in a locked place that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the PreK class there was a spray bottle labeled bleach and water that was on an open shelf above the sink, not locked and inaccessible to the children. Plan of Correction: The spray bottle was moved to a cabinet with a lock during the inspection.
