22VAC40-185 SPECIAL CARE PROVISIONS AND EMERGENCIES.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. There were nine children being supervised by 2 staff members. The children were observed participating in gross motor play, circle time, activities, and preparing for lunch. Lunch is provided from home. Five children's records were reviewed and in compliance. Two staff records were reviewed and in compliance. One medication was reviewed. Two staff members are CPR, First Aid, and MAT (medication Administration Training) certified. The most recent emergency escape drill was conducted 11/12/2019 and the most recent shelter in place drill was conducted 10/17/2019. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G
Description: Based on observation of medication it was determined that not all procedures for medication were followed. Evidence: 1. The emergency medication for child A was not accompanied by written authorization from the parent. 2. The emergency medication for child A was not in the original container from the pharmacy to include the prescription label to identify the name of the child, dosage, and instructions for the medication.

Plan of Correction: Administration will request written authorization and a prescription label from the parent of child A.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J
Description: Based on observation of one medication it was determined that medication was not kept in locked place, inaccessible to children. Evidence: The medication for child A was observed in an unlocked pencil pouch and kept in a basket on a low file cabinet, accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: The medication will be placed in locked container.
