Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observations on 12/27/19, the center did not ensure to keep all hazardous substances in locked placed using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: 1) In the Two's classroom, the licensing inspector observed bottles of hand sanitizer in an unlocked cabinet. 2) In the Three's classroom, the licensing inspector observed bottles of hand sanitizer in an unlocked cabinet. Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to the children.Plan of Correction: The assistant director will remove the bottles from the classroom cabinets and move them into the office to ensure they are locked.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on a review of documentation on 12/27/19, the center did not maintain a record of the dates of all practice drills for one year.
Evidence: 1) The licensing inspector reviewed the center's practice drill log. There were no evacuation drills documented for January, April, May, or July 2019. 2) During interview, a member of management reported the drills were practiced, but not documented in the practice drill log. The center shall maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year.Plan of Correction: Moving forward, documentation of all practice drills will be kept as required.
