A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted on Thursday, February 27, 2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspector arrived at 9:30 AM and concluded the inspection at 11:45 AM. The census for today's inspection consisted of 22 children. During the inspection, children were writing letters of the alphabet, having storytime, playing a counting game, painting, bathroom breaks, washing hands, eating lunch and napping. Children's equipment, learning materials, indoor and outdoor space, restrooms, first aid kit and the nonmedical emergency supplies were reviewed. The provider stated that medication is not administered at this time. Five children's records and five staff records, annual fire and health inspections, fire drill, lockdown drill and shelter in place drill logs, daily attendance and all required postings were reviewed.
The director was available for the inspection and was present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice.
Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation listed on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from receipt. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s); 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-540-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, the center did not ensure that each staff member shall submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening (TB) at time of employment and prior to contact with children. The TB screening cannot be more than 30 days old upon employment.
