An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:20 - 11:20 am with the owner and staff. There were 21 children, ranging from four years to five years of age, supervised by four staff. Children were observed participating in group activities, arts and crafts projects, singing and dancing, and tasting hummus all to simulate travel to India as part of the curriculum learning about the seven continents. Four children's records and four staff records were reviewed and in compliance. There was no medication to review. The emergency drill log was observed and in compliance. The first aid kit, battery operated flashlight and radio were all observed. The last health inspection was conducted: 8/6/19 and the last fire inspection was conducted: 8/6/19. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, it was determined that not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: Three canisters of disinfecting wipes were observed sitting on top of an open shelf in the back bathroom. Plan of Correction: Disinfecting wipes were moved to a locked closet during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that the first aid kit contained all required items. Evidence: there was only one triangular bandage. Plan of Correction: Will obtain a second triangular bandage.
