Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on June 18, 2020 and concluded on June 18, 2020. The director was contacted by video call to initiate the virtual inspection. There were seventy-four (74) children present and twenty (20) staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed four children?s records and four staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B
Description: Based on a review of four records for children, and an interview with administrative staff, the center failed to always obtain documentation of additional immunizations at least once every six months for children under the age of two years. Evidence: The immunization record for child 3 that was completed on November 28, 2018 was not updated by six months from that date. Child 3 became two years in age in August 2019. The next immunization record was completed on September 10, 2019.

Plan of Correction: The director will continue to review the need for updated immunization records on a monthly basis. Parents are given copies of the school entrance health form, and a request to bring an updated record, in their center mailbox. Also, the director emails parents to request the updated records. The director will continue to track the immunization record needs in advance of due dates so that information is obtained on time.
