Technical Assistance:
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs, specifically in regards to social distancing and the use of masks.

Phase III guidelines issued by the Governor recommend:
"Practice social distancing to the maximum extent while still allowing for the care and developmental needs of children. Staff need to be in close proximity to children when providing care; however, programs should keep children at least 6 ft. apart from each other and limit physical proximity as best as they are able."

"Staff and children over the age of two should use cloth face coverings when physical distancing cannot be maintained, as is medically and developmentally appropriate.

The CDC provides general guidance on the proper use of facial coverings and other personal safety equipment"

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on 07/13/20 and concluded on 07/15/20. The owner and director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 12 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the owner and director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-F
Description: Based on observation, the center did not have a platform/set of steps in one of the bathrooms that did not have a child size toilet.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
The step stool had been moved to the water fountain. An additional stool will be added to the bathroom to ensure children have access to them at all times.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-C
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure there was a record of all required information for each child on formula.
There were 2 infants in care that were on formula. The center had 1 of the 2 infant's required formula information recorded.

Plan of Correction: The following plan of correction was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
The infant room will create a record of each infant and all required information in regards to their formula.
