This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was conducted on August 7, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were forty-nine children present and eleven staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed three children?s records and four staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with licensing regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on review and interview, facility did not ensure 1 of 4 staff records has a completed out of state child abuse and neglect check when an individual has lived outside the state of Virginia within the past 5 years.
Evidence: The record for staff #1 (start date of employment June 15, 2020) had documentation of living outside the state of Virginia within the past 5 years and there was not a completed search of that state's child abuse and neglect registry. Staff reported the check was completed and mailed however there was no documentation of when it was mailed or follow up to check on the status.Plan of Correction: With no point of contact for a follow up, a new out of state background check will be sent a copy made for the employee's folder.
