This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on October 23, 2020 and concluded on October 26, 2020. The owner was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were seven children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the owner a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children?s records, two staff records and one volunteer record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with licensing regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on review and interview, licensee did not ensure 2 of 3 individuals have an Office of Background Investigation (OBI) fingerprinting determination letter prior to staff/volunteer beginning employment.
Evidence: The following was found during the record review:
1. The record for staff #1 (start date October 12, 2020 had an OBI fingerprinting determination letter dated October 26, 2020. The staff received orientation training on September 28, 2020.
2. The record for volunteer #1 (start date October 19, 2020) had an OBI fingerprinting determination letter dated October 22, 2020. The volunteer received orientation training on October 19, 2020.
3. Information was verified by the owner.Plan of Correction: I will make sure all new staff have their fingerprints report before start date.
