This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A modification inspection was initiated on October 26, 2020 and concluded on October 26, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection in response to a license modification request to increase capacity, age range, hours of the facility and too add additional space. There were 14 children present and five staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed no children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of staff records and interview, the facility did not obtain a completed out of state child abuse and neglect search prior to hire for one staff member.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #1, hired 09/15/2020, did not contain a complete child abuse and neglect search from the state of Georgia.
2. The Director stated the abuse and neglect search for Georgia had been requested but the results had not be received.Plan of Correction: Per the Director: I was unaware of the change in time requirements for out of state background checks. Going forward I will ensure all out of state checks are completed and results received before hiring.
