This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 11/4/2020 and concluded on 11/20/2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 33 children present and 7 staff. The inspector emailed the in charge person a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-A Description: Based on review of three staff records, the facility failed to have documentation of a repeat search of the central registry (CPS check) within the required time frame (every 5 years). Evidence: the last documented results of the search of the central registry (CPS check) for Staff A was completed 10/8/2011. A new check was mailed 9/28/2020, but staff have not called to check on the status of the CPS check. Plan of Correction: A new search of the central registry (CPS check) was mailed 9/28/2020. Center staff will contact the CPS office to check on the status of the recently mailed background check.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on review of three staff files, the facility failed to ensure that all staff submit to fingerprinting and obtain results prior to employment. Evidence: Staff B was hired 9/1/2020, but the facility did not receive the fingerprint results until 9/23/2020. Staff C was hired 9/8/2020, but the facility did not receive the fingerprint results until 9/23/2020. Plan of Correction: All potential staff will have fingerprints returned to the facility before the position will be offered.
