Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring/renewal inspection was initiated on 12/03/2020 and concluded on 125/08/2020. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 19 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A
Description: Based upon review of available documentation and program director interview, the facility has not ensured that they could provide an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction.
Evidence:
1. Documentation of the most recent fire inspection is dated 1/31/2018.
2. The program director stated that the facilities manager was unable to locate a more recent fire department inspection.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
The fire department will be contacted. If inspections are not currently being conducted due to the pandemic, the contact will be documented in the records with the inspection conducted as soon as possible thereafter.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based upon review of three staff records, the facility has not ensured that an employee is denied continued employment if the facility does not have a child protective services (CPS) central registry finding within 30 days of employment.
Evidence:
1. According to the record provided, staff 3 began employment on 9/9/2019. The record did not include results of a CPS central registry finding.
2. Staff 3 was on duty with the children during today's inspection.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
A CPS central registry search was requested, however results were not received. Follow-up with the Office of Background investigations was requested 12/8/2020. In the future, we will ensure that results of Central registry checks are obtained within 30 days of employment or the employee will be denied employ until acceptable results are obtained.
