Standard 400B: Behavioral guidance shall be constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and shall be intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts
Standard 410: The following actions or threats are forbidden: Physical punishment, striking a child, roughly handling or shaking a child or restricting movement through binding or tying.
Standard 420B: Staff shall promptly inform parents when persistent behavioral problems are identified; such notification shall include any disciplinary steps taken in response.

This investigation was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An unannounced inspection was initiated on 11/12/2020 and concluded on 12/22/2020 to investigate a self-reported incident regarding Behavioral Guidance and a Forbidden Action: rough handling of a child. Documentation was reviewed and interviews were conducted. It was determined that there was insufficient corroborating evidence to substantiate the allegation. There were no violations issued as a result of the inspection.
