Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 2/10/21 and concluded on 2/12/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 51 children present with 12 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records, 4 staff records and 3 medications and supporting documents submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-A
Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain updated central registry background checks every five years for applicants/agents of the facility.

Evidence:

1. The central registry background checks for the two board officers expired on 3/5/2020 because they were last completed 3/6/2015.
2. The director verified the center does not have current central registry checks for the two board officers.

Plan of Correction: The two board officers will be required to complete the paperwork. When the results are received they will be forwarded to licensing. In the future background checks will be updated every five years.
