This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted to investigate a complaint received by the department related to Behavioral Guidance at the center. The inspection was initiated on 2/11/2021 and concluded on 2/26/2021 with an exit interview. Interviews were conducted and documentation was reviewed. The evidence gathered during the investigation determined non-compliance with one standard that is documented on the violation notice

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on interviews and review of documentation, not all behavioral guidance was constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior. Evidence: 1) On 1/27/2021 child #1 (age 2) was asked to sit out of morning gym time for a few minutes as a result of morning gathering behaviors. 2) On 2/2/21 child #1 sat out of gym for the first five minutes to "watch friends and their behaviors" as a result of classroom misbehavior when asked to line up for gym.
