This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/2/2021 and concluded on 3/2/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 47 children present and 14 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on review of three staff files and staff interview, the facility failed to have documentation of out of state background checks in the required time frames. Evidence:
1. Staff 1 (date of hire 12/15/2020) disclosed on their sworn statement (dated 12/9/2020) that they had lived in DC and Maryland within the past five years. There was no documentation of a search of the sex offender registry from DC or Maryland prior to employment in the staff file. There was no documentation of a criminal history record check from DC prior to employment in the staff file. There was no documentation of having submitted a search of the child abuse and neglect registry to DC or Maryland within the first 30 days of employment in the staff file.
2. Staff 2 (date of hire 1/4/2021) disclosed on their sworn statement (dated 1/4/2021) that they had lived in Ohio within the past five years. There was no documentation of a search of the Ohio sex offender registry prior to employment in the staff file. There was no documentation of having submitted a search of the child abuse and neglect registry from Ohio within the first 30 days of employment in the staff file.Plan of Correction: Not available online.
