Comments:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on 03/08/2021 and concluded on 12/02/2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 87 children present and 14 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Description:	Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that employee that had lived out of the state of VA within the last 5 years had a results of an criminal history record information check, out-of-state Central Registry results and sex offender results. Evidence: Staff #5 hired date was 12/21/20 lived out of the state of VA within the past 5 years did not have results of a sex offender registry check and out of state criminal history record check. The director confirmed the center did not have a out of state criminal history record check and sex offender registry check results. The director completed the sex offender check during the inspection. Staff #4 hire date 08/20/20 lived out of the state of VA within the past 5 years did not have results of a out of state central registry check . The center staff confirmed the center did not have a out of state central registry check results.
Plan of Correction:	All VA background checks were completed for both employees. We will complete the background checks for the other states immediately. We ran the background checks for the other two states, but were aware the other states required additional background checks. Each state has different requirements for background checks making this very difficult to ensure wehave the appropriate documents.
