Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on March 30, 2021 and concluded on April 1, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection\. There were 50 children present and 11 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed three children's records and eight staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on review of medication, the center failed to ensure that all medication was labeled with the dosage amount.

Evidence:
1. There was a bottle of medication for Child 1M that was not labeled with the dosage amount. The dosage amount that was listed on the box was different than what the physician prescribed.
2. Staff verified that the dosage amount was not written on the bottle or the box of the medication, and that the dosage amount on the box was different than what the physician prescribed.

Plan of Correction: Staff immediately labeled the box with the dosage amount. In the future the staff that receive the medication will check medication to ensure the dosage amount is written on the medication.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4
Description: Based on review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that an out of state sex offender registry check was completed before the first day of employment.

1. Staff #1's date of hire was 12/14/2021. Staff #1 indicated on the sworn disclosure statement dated 12/03/2020 that they had lived out of the state of Virginia within the past five years.
2. The out-of-state sex offender registry check was dated 12/29/2020.
2. Staff verified the date of hire for Staff #1 and the date the out-of-state sex offender registry check was completed.

Plan of Correction: Administration misunderstood the new legislation and thought they had until December 31, 2020 to complete the out-of-state-sex offender registry search. In the future no employee will start that until the sex offender registry check has been completed for those employees who have lived outside of Virginia within the past five years.
