8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated and concluded on 8/26/2022. There were no children present at the time of the inspection. There are two children enrolled, ages 11 years and 12 years old. The children attend on a changing schedule according to the parent's work schedule or needs. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-410-B
Description: Based on observation and interview, the vendor did not ensure that all required non-medical emergency supplies were available in the home.
Evidence:
There was not a battery operated radio available in the home.
The vendor confirmed that the battery operated radio she had purchased for emergency use had been removed from the home and that there was not a radio available at the time of the inspection.

Plan of Correction: The vendor will either retrieve the radio she purchased back to the home or purchase a new battery operated radio to keep available in the home for emergency use if a power outage is in effect during emergency situations.
