Technical Assistance:
The final regulation to amend Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers (22VAC40-185, now 8VAC20-780) to address federal health and safety requirements will become effective on October 13, 2021. The final regulation can be found at https://townhall.virginia.gov/L/ViewXML.cfm?textid=15030.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and an interview with staff.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/13/2021 with an exit interview on 9/21/2021. The child care manager was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 29 children present, with two staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, staffing and supervision, and special care provisions and emergencies. A total of three child records and two staff records were reviewed.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with one applicable standard or law and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-200-A
Description: Based on review of documentation, and an interview with staff, the facility failed to have a qualified program director regularly on site at least 50% of the facility's hours of operation. Evidence: there is no documentation that any staff on site are director qualified.

Plan of Correction: Staff stated they will ensure a qualified director is on site 50% of the facility's operating hours.
