Please review the new Child Day Center standards that took effect on 10/13/2021 in regards to orientation, required new written policies, tuberculosis screening, and added requirements in emergency preparedness.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and interviews.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on October 28, 2021 and concluded on November 9, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 33 children present, ranging in ages from five months to five years of age, with eight staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and eight staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B Description: Based on review of children's records, the center failed to obtain updated immunization documentation once every six months for children under the age of two years.
Evidence:
Child #1, 15 months of age, enrolled on 01/04/2021. The last documented immunizations on file were dated 11/24/2020. Updated should have been obtained in May 2021.Plan of Correction: Administration contacted the school nurse who provided an update obtained on 11/9/2021. Administration will talk with staff responsible for immunizations and train them on the standard and requirements.
