On October 13, 2021, the VDOE shared newly effective Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers. There is a 90-day implementation period for the new requirements, which will end on January 12, 2022.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/18/2021 and concluded on 11/18/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 30 children present, with 3 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on record review, fingerprint results were not obtained for a staff member prior to their first day of employment.
Evidence:
Staff #1's record does not contain fingerprint results. The staff member was hired on 8/23/2021.Plan of Correction: Staff member scheduling fingerprint and is currently not working until both Central Registry and Fingerprints are completed.
Standard #: 8VAC20-770-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review, a central registry finding was not obtained for a staff member within 30 days of employment.
