An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 10:00 am-11:15am. There were a total of 32 children with six staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center did not obtain fingerprint results prior to the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 was hired on 08/16/2021. Fingerprint results were not obtained prior to the first day of employment. The fingerprint results on file were dated 09/15/2021.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the fingerprint results were not obtained prior to the first day of employment.Plan of Correction: Fingerprint results must be obtained prior to hire. Moving forward, fingerprint results will be obtained before a staff member is hired.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the Lambs classroom (Ages 3-4 years), cleaning materials that contained the statement were found in an unlocked cabinet.Plan of Correction: The cabinet with hazardous substances will be locked up.
