The final regulation to amend Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers (22VAC40-185, now 8VAC20-780) to address federal health and safety requirements will become effective on October 13, 2021. The final regulation can be found at https://www.doe.virginia.gov/cc/files/final-8vac20-780.pdf.
Provided consultation on new licensing standards effective 10/13/2021, including:
1) lockdown procedures, drills
2) written list of allergies, sensitivities and food preferences
3) written procedures for head trauma

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 3:30-4:30 pm. There were 24 children present, ranging in age from 5 years to 11 years of age, with three staff supervising. The children were observed having free play outside on the playground, returning inside, washing hands to prepare for snack and eating snack. Snack served today was cheese sticks and orange slices or apples. Two children's records and two staff records were reviewed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was conducted 2/7/2022 and the most recent shelter-in-place drill was conducted 11/18/2021. There were no medications on site to review.
