8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on February 15, 2022 and concluded on February 17, 2022. There were 60 children present with 18 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review and staff interviews, the vendor did not ensure all staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence: Staff #3's record (date, of hire 10-21-21) did not include documentation of CPR certification. Center director confirmed staff had not obtained the certification.

Plan of Correction: Have scheduled a CPR certification course with EMTA Enterprises to get this staff member and anyone expiring in the next month (re) certified.

Description: Based on record review and staff interviews, the vendor did not ensure all staff had current certification in first aid appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Evidence: Staff #3's record (date, of hire 10-21-21) did not include documentation of first aid certification. Center director confirmed staff had not obtained the certification.
