The new Standards for Licensed Child Care Center's is available on the Virginia Department of Education website.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed today. There were 90 children present with 10 teachers. The children were observed hand washing, in music class, working on art projects and playing on the playground. The entire physical plant, emergency logs, attendance logs, evacuation logs, medication logs, medication, children's records and staff records were reviewed. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-140-A
Description: Based on a review of children's records the center failed to ensure that each child shall have a physical examination by or under or by the direction of a physician by the 30th day of attendance

Plan of Correction: I will request documentation from parents.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on an observation of the physical plant, the center failed to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.

Evidence:
In the gym there is a hole in the wall and the paint is peeling in areas.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the Church regarding the hole and the peeling paint.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
Classrooms #1, #3,,#5,#8,#9 and #10 had hazardous substances that were not in a locked area.

Plan of Correction: All hazardous substances were locked away during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that all outlets have protective covers that are of a size that cannot be swallowed by children.

Evidence:
The is an outlet cover missing in the gym.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
