Technical assistance was provided regarding on-site staff records.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted 0n 3/30/22 from 2:20pm to 3:15pm with the Director. There were 24 children in care, ranging in age from six-years to 12-years-old, supervised by two staff. The children were observed transitioning from the gym to the playground and playing outside. One staff record and two child records were reviewed off-site on 4/2/22. The Center has two staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid, as well as trained in Daily Health Observation. There were no medications on site for children on the date of the inspection. The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent Fire Inspection on file was dated 6/23/21 and the most recent Health Inspection on file was dated 9/13/21. Standard #: 8VAC20-770-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of one staff record, the program did not obtain the results of a search of the central registry within 30 days of employment for a staff member. Evidence: The record for Staff A, with a start date of 2/24/22 did not contain the results of a search of the central registry. Plan of Correction: Moving forward we will be sure the request is submitted within the 7 days required and follow-up if results are not received within 30 days.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-80-A Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with staff, the center did not maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: At approximately 2:30pm on 3/30/22 the attendance record contained documentation of 29 children present. There were 24 children present. Staff reported that some children had left but the attendance had not been updated to reflect their departure. Plan of Correction: On April 4th, the site child care manager met with on-site staff to review proper attendance procedures. Procedures reviewed included noting the time the child enters and exits the program on the attendance roster and contacting the school office to verify any absences for afternoon care.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with staff, the program did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: The drill log for the current school year did not contain documentation of drills practiced in November 2021, December 2021, or February 2022. Plan of Correction: We will be sure to practice monthly drills as required moving forward.
